Liaising with internal stakeholders such as Fisheries Victoria to secure funding and partner with for events is crucial. Alongside this building partnerships with angling clubs and likeminded community groups has enabled me to build our program in the region and increase capacity for the group by increasing numbers of volunteers and activity numbers. Prior to employment I also volunteered as a member of the South West Group for four years. I was the secretary and delegate, so I gained a very in depth understanding of not for profit organisation undertakings, requirements and administrative needs on both a local and state level. I was required to chair meetings, formulate and circulate agendas, take minutes, provide technical assistance and volunteer training. This is made simply by actively listening to each survey participant and determining their moods and adjusting the language used. Interviewed recreational fishers to determine historical stock assessments of Snapper on the east coast of Australia. Compiled a number of different quantitative and qualitative data, that may be used to estimate previous stocks and whether or not decline in the fishery is evident.

Used fyke nets and box traps to monitor small-bodied fishes in restored swamps in Victoria, Australia. The monitoring programs are ongoing and are used to assess the effectiveness of swamp and wetland restoration on small-bodied fishes.

Using standardised scientific procedures, I implemented various sampling techniques which allowed direct comparisons to be drawn between field sites and habitats, presence/absence of fish species and to monitor trends over time.
