Attendance Officer
CurrentWorks with school administrators and community organizations within Madison County (Jefferson Local, Madison Plains, Jonathan Alder, London City Schools, London Academy and Tolles Career Center) to address student attendance, behavior problems, and ineligible non-resident enrollments. Processes legal complaints with the Madison County Prosecutor’s office when truancy persists. Promotes a positive impression of the Madison-Champaign Educational Service Center.Responsibilities:Strong Knowledge of state laws regarding truancy for school age minors and how to file charges in jurisdictions across the state of Ohio.Collects data for the purpose of analyzing and developing recommendations for program improvement.Communicates regularly with school staff for the purpose of establishing cooperative and innovative approaches to solve truancy issues.Completes reports for the purpose of evaluating intervention attempts for truant studentsCoordinates with law enforcement agencies for the purpose of collecting and disseminating information pertaining to truancy.Fosters communication for the purpose of establishing positive relationships between parents, students, staff and others.Makes home visits with parents and students for the purpose of checking on truant students and gaining parental support in students’ educational and social development.
