Fourth year nursing student looking to gain experience as an employed student nurse. Certainly my journey in life has garnered a fair amount of experience and discovery about myself all of which has culminated to this point, that is my candidacy for the position of Employed Student Nurse with Fraser Health. In previous years I have had the privilege of ski patrolling at Mount Seymour and have filled the position of Patrol lead. Not only did I developed a fair degree of medical experience but also leadership experience here that I plan to bring into my future practice. I have also volunteered for the past couple of years as a medic and student nurse at a multitude of high patient contact music festivals. There I was exposed to a wide array of critical situations that exercised and proved my ability to critically think under stressful situations. Through my clinical rotations I have also been able to identify some strengths of mine. One of these is my ability to communicate and be present with clients. I feel as though my introverted nature helps with this so I listen in full to what people have to say and often spend a fair amount of time listening to clients in order to carry this out. Certainly this characteristic of mine will be of immense utility to Fraser Health since effective communication is probably the most common intervention that a nurse makes. On a final note I would like to thank Fraser Health for the consideration of my application for this position.
