As a Park Ranger Assistant I assist with all programs managed at the Illinois Waterway Project Office in Peoria, IL. These programs include, but not limited to interpretation, recreation management, natural resource management and administration. My major duties include boundary line inspection (clearing and marking), timber stand improvement, grass land restoration,roadway maintenance, dam maintenance, invasive species control, water safety patrol, and help with interpretive programs.

The public safety department at Carroll University provides many different job opportunities. I have worked as patrol, bike patrol, dispatch, and shuttle driver. As patrol we inspect the premises and call in anything we find suspicious. As dispatch we have to transmit information, answer calls, survey the cameras and answer questions about parking, and other issues around campus. As a shuttle driver we provide a service for the university students to get rides around campus and to any education and health services. All positions had a special emphasis on public relations. It was very important that the students we spoke to and aided received a feeling of living in a safe community. I really enjoyed being employed as a public safety aid. My professional skills, communication skills, work ethic, and time management had really improved during this employment.
