I started with GTG as a locum, before moving in to a Band 7 specialist role. Then, later accepted the Team Lead position in which I was in charge of Guernsey's largest physiotherapy clinic which sees roughly 15,000 appointments per year. My role was roughly 1/3 managerial and 2/3 clinical. My clinical case load consisted of a mix of post-op, fracture clinic, consultant referrals and walk-ins. In my managerial role, I was responsible for 13 outpatient physiotherapists and 3 admin staff, including conducting their appraisals and supervision, and approving annual leave. I was responsible for maintaining the outpatient service including hydrotherapy, rehabilitation classes and fracture clinic. I ensured weekly in-service training, governance, health and safety, infection control and audit procedures were completed for the department.

When I joined this team they had grown to 3 clinical staff in 7 years, by the time I resigned 3 years later we had expanded to a larger premises with 8 clinical staff. I was crucial in this expansion by quickly building a strong following within the local community by achieving patients’ goals quickly and with lasting results.I used marketing skills outside my job description to facilitate growth, designing a new company website (www.physioredcliffe.com.au) and establishing social media presence. Clinically, I used all tools available to achieve the best outcomes for my patients. i.e.: - Leading 1-on-1 and small group Clinical Pilates classes. 8-10 classes per week. - Prescription of customised orthotic shoe innersoles using GaitScan technology. - External consultations – Individualised hydrotherapy and gym programs for more complex patients. Nursing home and in-home visits for less mobile patients.
