I help my clients navigate complex commercial and property disputes and financial distress situations. I also have an extensive background in credit management and debt recovery. The clients I act for include private lenders, trade creditors, company directors, shareholders and insolvency practitioners.I have acted in disputes in all states and territories in Australia and have particular specialisation in complex insolvency and commercial disputes in the Supreme Court of NSW and the Federal Court of Australia.Some recent important cases I have run include:- acting for a contradictor in a cross-border judicial advice application (and subsequent appeal) in Australia and New Zealand obtaining an excellent result for 90% of investors in the collapse of an online stockbroker;- acting for a creditor in Supreme Court of NSW proceedings against a liquidator which determined an important question about the interaction between the Corporations Act and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (NSW); and- acting for a mortgagee in the Supreme Court of NSW (and subsequent appeal) seeking orders for possession from purchasers of apartments off the plan who had paid the full purchase price directly to the developer (who later went into liquidation) on exchange without the lender’s knowledge or consent. The developer had allowed the purchasers to occupy the apartments without completing the sale.I have presented many seminars on insolvency and recovery strategies both to clients and legal professionals. I have also written articles published on firm websites as well as in the Australian Institute of Credit Management Magazine and the NSW Young Lawyers Civil Litigation Committee Newsletter. I have an Advanced Certificate in Insolvency from the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA). I am also a member of ARITA's NSW Young Professionals Committee for 2024/25.In my spare time, I am a keen cricketer and have held committee positions with my childhood club in the past. I am also a qualified umpire and have previously played and umpired at a representative level.
