I worked as one of the interns in the ACEP Utility Internship program. The purpose of this program is for the Alaska Center for Energy and Power to contract interns to various utilities across Alaska to help build a workforce for the future of the Alaska energy industry. Through this program, we received training on micro grid systems, learning the challenges of the Alaska energy industry and gaining experience as contractors.I was contracted to Chugach Electric in Anchorage, and helped kick start efforts to establish a new Maintenance Management Software for their generation fleet. This work included drafting up project management documentation, travel to a remote site, data collection in the field and database formation. Through this experience, I also learned quite a bit about gas turbine generation systems.

My duties for this project involved quality control, document control and record keeping. This work involved communication with contractors, checking conditions in the field, witnessing various construction tasks as a customer representative, and making sure all documentation is consistent and up to date.Project: Utility Renovation ProjectDescription: This project involved the renovation of the electrical utilities across the Fairbanks campus. One of the primary changes this project implemented was changing the voltage levels across campus from 4160 V to 12.47 kV. My duties involved overseeing the documentation control process, organizing and delegating verification of work done in the field, ensuring consistency within the drawings, creating drafting packages so the drafter can make changes where necessary, and overseeing the final record process for the project.
