My research leverages experimental and computational (finite element method) analyses to evaluate the biomechanical and regenerative efficacy of the repair strategy.Highlights: - Mechanical characterisation and constitutive modelling of novel 3D-printed materials - High-throughput, parameterised finite element modelling of novel 3D-printed materials - Developed a custom bioreactor for culturing tissue engineering constructs with mechanical stimuli - Developed a novel finite element algorithm to predict the cellular micromechanical environment in cell-laden tissue engineering scaffolds - Designed and fabricated a custom, 3D-printed implant for repair of spinal herniation (annular repair implant) - Developed a novel additive manufacturing technique using a state-of-the-art bioprinter - Filed a provisional patent for the annular repair implant - Biomechanical evaluation and implementation of the annular repair implant in a large animal study - Evaluated the biomechanical and regenerative efficacy of the annular implant in a human lumbar spine finite element model - Involved with numerous pre-clinical GLP projects for industry sponsors
