Carried out a wide range of research projects for external orthopaedic companies, Royal North Shore Hospital surgeons, and Kolling staff and research studentsImplemented biomechanical testing and analysis on multiple animal and human tendons and ligaments to meet each client’s specifications. Determined an optimal method for suturing in human shoulder surgery and my kangaroo research led to a $2.4 million industry grant to develop the use of kangaroo tendons for knee, ankle and shoulder ligament replacement.Designed and manufactured machine components using CAD, 3D printing and workshop skills. Constructed apparatus to meet surgeons’ requirements.Analysed key data using MATLAB, LabVIEW programs, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and statistics. Self-designed MATLAB scripts and Microsoft Excel macros for each project and helped troubleshoot software issues for other team members so their research was completed.Developed efficient, long-term organisational plan for prioritising and completing multiple projects to meet each client’s strict deadlines and quality requirements.Carried out projects with limited supervision, independently determining the optimal methods to solve problems that arose. Implemented biomechanical testing and analysis of stem cell treatment for the recovery of horses for an external company. Determined the benefits of the stem cell therapy for strengthening tendons after injury.
