Using online sales channels including eBay and Depop, I have built an engaged community of followers and am often asked to source specialist items for clients. With a passion for recycling and a love of vintage designer clothing – I enjoy bringing older pieces of high-quality fashion back to life and seeing my customers wearing them with style.

Rob’s Maintenance is based in Blackpool and carries out high quality renovations and maintenance projects across the Fylde coast. I was asked to help out in 2020, which developed into longer-term work after graduating and taking on more responsibility. I have worked alongside Rob and with other trades professionals on site at residential properties, commercial premises and healthcare facilities. This includes property extensions, new dorma’s, new bathrooms and kitchens, stairs, roofing, flooring, plumbing works and tiling. I've worked on all these areas, using a range of tools and equipment to complete carpentry and tiling works. Rob has trusted me to work alone on several projects such as tiling, which have required attention to detail and high workmanship. Much of my work has been in customers’ homes, where I’ve been friendly, professional and polite whilst always making sure I keep a clean, tidy and safe work environment. This experience has developed strong practical and problem-solving skills as well as leadership. I feel confident in tackling most renovation or maintenance projects – knowing I can quickly learn, find answers to problems myself and do a thorough, high quality job.

I started here aged 16 and this was a perfect job that fitted in around my college and university life. Being flexible, I enjoyed working in several departments, including tills, warehousing, and sections such as the bakery and chilled foods. This led to training new starters and people on work experience, making them feel comfortable, part of the team, and being on hand to help them. Customer service was vital in this work, and most of my roles involved being on the shop floor where I noticed people who needed help, responded to questions, and did my best to make sure they had a positive shopping experience. This store is one of the large ‘superstores’ and as such, the pace of work is fast, the numbers of customers are thousands daily and the team constantly changes. I’ve been a long-serving member of staff, achieved 100% attendance record and received the Bronze Award for Customer Service.

Bek Enviro are Geo-Environmental Consulting Engineers, providing services to developers, construction companies and clients such as the Woodland Trust. Investigating and testing contaminated land, Bek Enviro also carries out flood risk assessments and drainage design. I worked here during my gap year before starting university and enjoyed this opportunity to work alongside environmental consultants and deepen my knowledge in this area. My work involved travelling to sites across the north of England, researching, analysing and evaluating results for clients, and testing soil quality to determine if the land was safe to build on. This gave me the chance to see firsthand how a consultancy business operates in the geo-environmental sector, the issues clients face and how much drainage and flooding risk is taken into consideration in housing planning programs.
