I’ve always loved being outdoors. Fascinated by nature, how things were formed, and the landscape around me – it was an obvious choice to study Geography at degree level. My degree studies opened up the natural environment for me further and I specialised in water – learning how water flows across the earth, how it influences rivers, how humans harness and manage water and how destructive and powerful water can be during droughts and floods. I developed knowledge of the hydrological cycle, erosion, sediment transport, landscape evolution, fluvial and geomorphological processes. I also learnt the human element and our efforts to control, manage and use water, how the water industry works, and how we govern and protect our waters with regulations. Alongside these studies, I’ve also worked for a year with a Geo-Environmental Consulting Engineering firm, visiting sites for development, and helping clients know if land was safe to build on and had any drainage or flooding risks. I bring curiosity, an open mind and enthusiasm to everything I do, and have enjoyed working in a range of roles in the last 5 years alongside studying. This includes working in just about every department possible in a Tesco Superstore, I’ve worked in property renovations, and I’ve set up and manage my own online business – a vintage designer clothing reseller (with some success!). Outside of this, sport, being active and the outdoors are all part of my daily life. I love long hikes, cycling, camping, and swimming. I’m part of a football team, have previously been a level 6 referee for 5 years and have done some modelling, music video and TV extra work. Overall, I’m a life-long learner, get involved and take ownership for improving things. Currently converting a VW Van into a camper van, I’m looking forward to plenty of trips in it and exploring new places. To connect, just get in touch.
