Senior Balancing Coordinator
CurrentBalancing generation to load for a large area in the midsection of the United States. This includes all or parts of 14 states that extends from Canada to Louisiana. I regulate load in real time with a generation fleet that uses coal, natural gas, hydro, nuclear, waste heat, diesel, solar and last but not least wind. Interesting note, there are times, when the wind is blowing, that wind energy is providing for over 60% of our needs, and there are many more wind farms in the plan. I work in close coordination on one side with marketing in committing and decommitting generators while ensuring that I have enough capacity for load plus regulation plus one and a half times our single worst contingency. On the other side I work in close coordination with the reliability coordinator to ensure that our transmission grid is not over loaded in any part of our footprint. For reliability we have to be sure that a single failure on the grid does not result in cascading failures. I have over 29 years of demonstrated experience in this industry.
