As opportunities for external work from within The Village Co. began to grow, it made sense to take the bold step of starting a digital product studio. While we have only been at this for a few months, we have already produced a globally distributed volunteer engagement and management platform for an international volunteering organisation and continued to push the development and market uptake of two other start-up products which are now seeing strong market interest. Personally this has been an opportunity to continue to grow in essentially all areas of business operation and growth. I am starting to gain a deeper appreciation for administration, marketing and multi-context project management in an environment where I can share my passion for quality, robust systems and smooth, simple user experiences.

As I began to influence the technology direction at The Village Co. I moved into the Head Of Engineering role. Here I continued to develop my technical skill set yet at a higher level as we worked to architect a custom framework for business oriented applications. This framework began to blend analysis and product management with the development process more directly enable faster, more user oriented development. This framework has served as the foundation of all successful projects we have produced since.As the needs of the business shifted, my focus began to move towards engineering development and team management once again. Managing the processes and workflows of combined development and design squad along side other responsibilities was a challenge that showed me the importance of clarity and consistency in the decision making process, particularly with high performing, fast moving product teams.

With the Village Co. I worked on a number of innovative products in the food service and entertainment space. Over my first few years, I dramatically expanded my skill set both technically and in people and project management.Our small team built scale ready, resilient systems using industry leading cloud technologies, innovative architectures and a strong focus on user experience. In this role I was fortunate to be able to learn and develop everything from frontend and app development to backend and even dev-ops and cloud deployment systems. During this time I also worked to improve and standardise our engineering practices leverage the advice of several high performing engineering leads. I also began to furthered my teaching and personal development skills and started to apply them to the similar task of direct people management.

With Broader Learning my work is focused on business development as well as management of administrative, financial and compliance tasks. In 2018 Broader Learning conducted our first Student Maker Projects an initiative that took 4 student groups from around Newcastle through a 20 week STEM project of their choosing that addressed a real world problem. As project manager for this initiative I oversaw the development of the program that students followed, managed the projects and the university mentors for each group and aided with the organisation of the introduction and showcase events.

As a software developer with Intradata I've been involved with custom software projects for energy, manufacturing and defence clients. I've primarily worked on PHP, Delphi and JS projects for these clients. My work includes everything from analysis and design through to development and deployment for both web and native application platforms. During 2017 I worked to plan and execute a major cloud transition within the business. My experience with Amazon Web Services proved instrumental in moving the existing hosting infrastructure to the cloud in a smooth, secure and cost efficient manner. This move significantly reduced hosting costs and enabled a new level of development flexibility within the organisation.

Worked to develop and distribute our innovative mapping applications. Included adapting our original BestPark parking information platform for use with parking and facility utilisation with the University of Newcastle.Was project manager for the successful BestMap pilot in conjunction with the University. BestMap enables UoN management to understand building and facility utilisation through mapping of staff and students based on their WiFi connected devices.
