Would do repair work mainly. I’ve help repair roof trusses. Gutted the whole inside of the center of a roof and was helping with the guys on the ground when the Crain put the 8 trusses one the side walls for us to set them and make sure they were straight. We then applied the ply wood onto the trusses after made sure everything was plum and to the print. We then the drip cap on. put weather guard on the ply wood and started to roof it. Help build decks I was the cut guy for the main carpenter I worked with for deck board mainly because I could cut straight and read a tape right. and repaired siding with this crew as well but I was the cut guy most of the time. Replaced windows and doors/ glass doors. Have had replace dry wall. Then had a job assignment change and was sent to work on steel with a dollar pay raise. I was help building a storage space for a manufacturing plant. We started from a concrete slab to a whole building.

Was my first construction job. Isn’t a very big business 5 guy crew. We mainly did roofs but would also build decks and redo siding around a whole house. I was muscle and. Learning the ropes of every thing. I’ve had to go on some pretty steep roofs. Max pitch I think I’ve walked would be 9/12 but they aren’t fun but the job needs to be done. We did a lot of repairs from the derecho so meant making sure people’s roofs where water tight until we could get to them. I did tear off, then would go do ground clean up. We didn’t have our own trailer but the boss knew some one with one who they would pay to pick up the loads. Which meant we hand loaded all the shingle tear off by hand. After all clean up from the roof was done. Nails all pulled and the ply would all swept and clean. Put our drip cap on and start our tar paper. Our floor-men love ice and water shield so that’s what we used. Hammer tack it on and make sure stater was on so we could shingle. We would clear one side of siding offMake sure we cleaned up as we went and then would hopefully start siding as one would continue on tear off depending the job. One cut guy and 3 siders.

I would help run night shifts and ran night shifts alone. Close the store and make sure the drawers where counted. Ensure that crew would do closing and list. Also would count the drawers and do the extra money drop in the safe for our general manger for when he got there in the morning.

This was my first job. I was a kitchen worker I started 1st shift. I would be the person toasting the muffins. Queuing the burritos or hotcakes. Eventually I started to learn the grill and was moving around from 2nd shift to 1st. I made my way up to a crew trainer after 9 months or so of working there. I would train new hires on the positions I knew because of my performance in them.
