I began teaching after I obtained a CELTA from Akcent International House Prague in October 2018. I started with Education First in Ningbo, China where I worked with students ranging from 3 to 15 years old. When it was time to depart EF I took a new job at HD School Ningbo where I was an International Kindergarten Homeroom teacher where I worked for two years. I received basic Montessori training and delivered daily English lessons to my students while providing continuous learning opportunities throughout the day. After two years, I found a position at Concordia School Ningbo working in their bilingual primary school where I was the sole foreign teacher. I undertook the task of setting up their curriculum nearly from scratch and worked closely with the local English teacher to set up a coursework pathway through National Geographic's Timezones textbooks appropriate for grades 1 – 3 while filling in any gaps we felt were necessary. I participated in marketing events, extra-curricular activities and helped set up the class environment. I worked to strengthen students' phonics while developing their writing skills and practicing dictation.
