Mr. Penfound is currently working for Enroute Computer Solutions as a Senior Test Engineer testing ERAM and Data Comm functionality. Mr. Penfound has 30 years operational experience as a Certified Professional Controller at a Level 12 Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC). His work with the FAA included the Cleveland ARTCC (ZOB) Traffic Management Unit (TMU), monitoring and controlling traffic flows to major airports. He has extensive collaboration with controller user teams, including facility-level implementation teams and national-level Article 48 Workgroups. Mr. Penfound was the EnRoute Automation Modernization (ERAM) Principal Facility Representative (PFR), and responsible for the successful implementation of ERAM at ZOB. Mr. Penfound was a member of the ERAM National User Team (NUT), which was responsible for the operational evaluations of the ERAM system. The team analyzed and prioritized software issues and corrective actions. Mr. Penfound helped successfully deploy the User Request Evaluation Team (URET) at ZOB as part of the Facility Implementation Team (FIT), and as the facility URET Co-Lead. On the national-level, Mr. Penfound was part of the URET National Training Cadre (NTC). Mr. Penfound developed the local procedures and training needed to integrate automation and procedural changes brought to ZOB when Toronto Area Control Centre (ACC) upgraded to Canadian Automated Air Traffic System (CAATS). Mr. Penfound also trained controllers on the new functionality of the Display System Replacement (DSR). Mr. Penfound participated in the Data Comm Program Office CHI demonstrations and is fully versed in Data Comm functionality and CHI.
