As the Senior Special Agent supervising this team, I reviewed the case notes and communicated the results to Washington if there was a creditable threat. When the President or other protectees visited the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, my team supported the advance by supplying protective intelligence and advance agents. One such visit involved multiple motorcades and helicopter travel between venues and involved complex logistics where my team’s knowledge of the local area was essential. Drawing on my previous experiences, I trained and mentored agents in investigative procedures and techniques, which contributed to our prompt responses to requests from Protective Intelligence Division in Washington, DC and other Secret Service management. Although a member of the Secret Service, while in this role I reported directly to the Chief of Mission for the US Embassy in Bangkok. When President Trump met with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, at summits in Singapore and later in Vietnam, I facilitated meetings between the Presidential Protection advance agents and host government officials in these two countries prior to these two high-level meetings. My ability to cultivate relationships with high-level government officials across the portfolio of countries I covered was critical to the Secret Service gaining access to these countries in anticipation of any future Presidential visits. In the course of building professional rapport, I consulted with government security officials in Timor-Leste and banking officials in Myanmar regarding some of the training and resources available through the Secret Service. I served as the interim Chief Attaché for a four-month period during a vacancy in that position and administered $1M annual operating budget, as well as a >$3,000 petty cash fund used to support local investigations into counterfeiting activities threatening the US currency. I also supervised four Thai nationals and one Special Agent engaged in administrative and investigative operations. Show less
