Responsible for the implementation of the site contamination provisions of the Environment Protection Act, 1993 and other matters relevant to site contamination. As part of this role I was responsible for managing the regulation of the largest site contamination portfolio in South Australia relating to a major service station operator. I lead multiple investigations into the identification of persons liable for the assessment and remediation of legacy site contamination. This entailed preparing a strong evidence basis to allow the Authority to proceed to regulatory action. A key aspect of this was clear science communication conveying technical scientific based information in a manner which allowed it to be understood in the context of legislative decision making. A key achievement while in this role was being the lead regulatory contact and witness for the first prosecution of a failure to comply with a site contamination assessment order in South Australia. Key job functions include:- Determination and regulation of persons liable for the assessment and remediation of site contamination.- Providing advice to members of the public and industry on site contamination matters and the Environment Protection Act, 1993.- Provision of technical advice in relation to service station licences and requirements. - Provision of technical site contamination advice in relation to development applications. - Review and updating of site contamination guidance documents.- Assistance in the administration of the site contamination audit system.As part of my role within the EPA I was also a representative on the WHS Committee.

I was employed by the South Australian Environment Protection Authority (EPA) as part of the government assessment projects team. As part of this team I was responsible for the scoping and planing the assessment of orphan contaminated sites. This included the project management, community engagement and the procurement of contractors and consultants.I scoped and oversaw the delivery of the following projects while at EPA:-Unley Assessment Area-Keswick Assessment Area-Beverley Broader Assessment-Beverley vapour mitigationIn my role as a site contamination officer I also worked as part of the EPA site contamination regulation team. In this role I reviewed a large number of site contamination assessment reports relating to a various types of contaminants and hydro geological conditions. Working at the EPA allowed me to develop a high understanding of site contamination assessment guidance including:-The ASC NEPM-CRC Care Technical Reports-OSWER Technical Guidance for Assessing and Mitigating Vapour IntrusionIn September 2017 I presented at the bi-annual Clean Up Conference in Melbourne on the EPA pilot vapour mitigation trial.
