Mitch Wheeler Email and Phone Number
A motivated and passionate MSK physiotherapist and academic whose clinical experience spans a decade working within the fields of musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, and five years experience as an academic lecturer. I currently divide my time between practicing as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in private practice, and working as a university lecturer within the disciplines of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology. As a clinician, I pride myself on taking a pragmatic, evidence-based and individually-tailored approach to the assessment and management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions. I enjoy enabling people in their sense-making processes and being a part of their journey with pain and their road to recovery. I have also recently accepted a new role as team physiotherapist and head trainer at a local AFL and netball club, which complements my passions for sport and community health. As an educator, my personal and professional values are deeply seated in promoting the lifelong learning of practical, relevant and effective skills and knowledge. I strive to deliver high quality, equitable, inclusive and diverse services that benefit the community. I’m currently teaching in fundamental units for emerging students of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology. My research interests currently relate to the types of key performance indicators (KPIs) physiotherapy practices collect, and understanding how this information can inform clinical practice. A work in progress.. I am also co-supervising several honours projects including the interprofessional collaboration between physios and S&C coaches in elite AFL and AFLW
