I built strong relationships with customers through direct contact and the work I produced which resulted in loyal partnerships and ongoing seasonal development.Travel: I had the opportunity to travel whilst working for Refuel Global Brands mainly visiting China where most of our production took place. I met with suppliers and oversaw production at crucial times throughout the year. Travelling also allowed me to source specific components for brands for upcoming seasons.Exploring the Chinese market was also important as they tend to be ahead of the game in design and development. China’s vibrant culture and surroundings also gave me the opportunity to become inspired.

AKIO - In-house men’s luxury sports footwear brand.Design:- Footwear design, development and illustration.- Technical specifications.- CAD software - Photoshop, Illustrator.- Inspiration, trend and market research.- Selecting colours and fabrications.- Range planning.Making:- Pattern cutting.- Prototype construction.Having our own in-house workshop allowed me to be hands on and experiment with ideas from the design process to see if the concept worked and whether any alterations were needed before sending off to the factory for sampling. Marketing and Merchandising:I had the chance to assist with marketing campaigns used for AKIO, helping with ideas, styling, modeling, photography and finding locations for photo shoots. I also had the opportunity to help merchandise the AKIO range in-store which included designing branded footwear display blocks. Travel: - Sourcing - I regularly visited trade shows such as Lineapelle (Milan) and Premiere Vision (Paris) sourcing new leathers, fabrics and accessories for upcoming seasons and also to keep updated with the latest trends. - Selling - I also had the opportunity to attend Liberty Fairs (Las Vegas) where we presented our S/S 17 collection to retailers worldwide.- Quality Control – Factory and supplier visits were key to the business to make sure that production was running smoothly and quality was up to standards. We also believed that directly presenting our new collections and ideas was key for them to obtain a clear understanding of what we were aiming for.- Inspiration and Market Research - Visiting new places in various countries allowed me to be inspired by fresh surroundings and it also gave me the opportunity to scope the market, seeking out new products, trends and potential new customers. - Networking - Travelling allowed me to connect and build strong relationships with various people within the industry such as designers, other creatives, suppliers, factories and retailers.
