I was appointed a Managing Director in East Brunswick, New Jersey in '98, an opportunity which offered me the chance to run my own district office, while continuing to work with my clients. I built this scratch office from 5 to 17 reps and tripled production during my seven years as Managing Director. That time stands out as an experience that put the final polish on my career and prepared me for the Managing Partner position, it added the final touches of experience and insight. I had dealt with everything from compliance issues, to setting up office space, to personal production, and felt that I was ready to engage new opportunities, and face them head on.

I began my career with Northwestern Mutual in 1989 in Princeton, New Jersey as a freshly minted Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey) graduate. I was really attracted to all the things a career with Northwestern Mutual could offer me. I liked the independence of running my own practice, and knowing that my career would be helping people. I continued to work with my clients for 17 years, while at the same time starting the leadership path. In 1994 I was appointed a College Unit Director for the internship program, and since then I have held every position on the management track.

As Field Director I was responsible for the growth and development of a unit of new full-time financial representatives, while continuing to build my personal practice. I led my unit to top honors in our category for the Eastern Region.
