In this role I support the Access Monash Team in training mentors and facilitating events both within the University and in the wider community. I must regularly communicate with staff and students from diverse backgrounds in order to improve access to tertiary education. I am directly responsible for a group of around 10-15 mentors and help them to resolve any issues that may arise in their mentoring relationships with students. I also liaise with Project Officers and Program Coordinators to ensure the Access Monash program operates efficiently.

Access Monash aims to create student-to-student connections, helping secondary students from low socio-economic (low SES) communities bridge the gap from school to university.As a mentor, I facilitate mentoring sessions and activities designed to help VCE students explore and extend their interests and career and study options, develop future plans based on those options, as well as build on their study techniques, goal-setting, communication, motivation and resilience.This year-round commitment requires weekly one-on-one meetings with mentees, designing engaging activities and facilitating incursions at underrepresented school to improve students' knowledge about tertiary study options and pathways.
