PhD thesis revolves around four research topics:- Investigation of principal catalyst deactivation mechanisms present during the hydrogenation of palm-based organic media;- Sono-synthesis, characterisation and application of catalysts in the partial hydrogenation of fats and oils;- Delineation of different ultrasonic synthesis strategies and their effects on the properties of catalyst composites;- Incorporation of sonochemistry into the hydrometallurgical recovery and recycling of useful materials from waste catalysts.Supervised Final Year Masters Research projects and summer research interns:- Development of oxidation catalysts for the conversion and removal of harmful gases (i.e. Greenhouse gases, carbon monoxide and sulphur oxides);- Development of photocatalysts for the removal of organic pollutants (i.e. dyes).
