Executive Director
Taxpayers Association Of Vigo County
Terre Haute, Indiana
I was present at nearly onehundred public meetings involving discussions where public taxdollars get spent (City Council, County Council, School Corporation, Commissioners, local advocacy groups, etc., dozens of others). General "big-picture" awareness of issues, while maintaining integrity to not form opinions quickly.I have a general knowledge of all local public government office functions and responsibilities. Detailed knowledge of how to access government budgets, for those curious about local decisions (County and State level). I would be able to tell you who best to contact in the city/county, if you have any questions or issues that need resolved. I'm always trying to learn to better whichever local community I choose to reside in.I have created from scratch an analysis of comprehensive excel spreadsheets containing budgetary information from multiple sources. I'd like to think I am well versed in excel (I have a background in programming languages), yet there is always someone more proficient.I organized the new office upon move in (45 unlabeled boxes packed with information + 12 filing cabinet drawers + 12 crates of hanging files). Too Much Info = headache solving capacity.I planned and set up an annual meeting, including reservation of location, creation of invitations, mailing of invitations, and RSVP system on website. My secretary function(s) - duties included phone calls, responding to emails, paying bills, composition, typing, printing and sealing hundreds of letters. My IT responsibilities - duties included overhaul and backup of website, updates to website, membership database, creation of email forwarding systems for distribution to all members as well as board members only. Created public calendar of all city and county government meetings, (such information was often not publicly accessible through city and county website calendars)Currently working on the 50th annual report. Nonprofit work to keep my skillset well-rounded.
