About Mitchell Plyler, Mha
My healthcare IT career can be summed up as one simple concept: change.I began my career journey aligned to the Medical University of South Carolina Project Management Office team. As part of this team, I owned the internal issue and change tracking system for Epic EHR issues and changes. The change review process included system change identification, system updates in non-PROD environments, and discussion and approval for elevation into the production environment. I moved on to become an EHR solution analyst for and continued to support issue and change management within that role. My next opportunity was the role of Patient Centered Medical Home Coordinator for Eau Claire Cooperative Health Centers (now known as Cooperative Health). I wore a few hats in this position. I answered directly to the CEO and was responsible for aligning clinic policies, procedures, workflows, reports, and EHR configuration to meet patient centered medical home standards as outlined by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. I also worked as an analyst for onboarding athenaHealth for all clinics under the cooperative umbrella. Lastly, I was the designer, builder, and administrator for Cooperative Health’s Facilities Request and Tracking System. This system was used to track all facilities requests received from the various offices from inception to completion and allowed for tasking various personnel throughout the lifetime of the request. In 2015, my wife and I visited Kansas City for a family reunion. We loved our experience in Kansas City, which led us to move from South Carolina to the Midwest in 2016. Thus, my career at Cerner (now Oracle) began. I initially worked as a consultant to successfully deliver laboratory systems and necessary laboratory third-party integration. Within that role I also worked as a knowledge lead and problem champion, driving systemic changes to internal practices and standards for project methodology. In 2020, I transitioned to the role of Integration Architect (IA). As an IA, I work with client leadership to define domain needs, testing, package management, and change management processes within the lifecycle of a hospital implementation. I also serve as an escalation point and knowledge resource for any and all issues and risks throughout the actionable project lifecycle. In recent years, I have transitioned back into consulting, but maintain the leadership skills bolstered by my experience as an IA.For more details on my roles and accomplishments, please refer to the Experience section.
