Hello! My name is Mitchell Runkle, and I am a recent graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Comprehensive Design and an Interior Design minor. While my Interior Design minor has provided me with more focused experience within a single design discipline, my Comprehensive Design major is a bit different as it takes more of a liberal arts approach to design education, providing me with a holistic and well-rounded design experience. Consequently, I have done projects in design disciplines such as architecture, interior design, UX/UI, product and industrial design, and graphic design among others. This breadth of experience allows me to approach any design problem from a variety of perspectives, resulting in creative, unconventional solutions. Experience in numerous design disciplines has provided me with many distinct processes and approaches to design that I can pull from in any situation. Despite this range of experience, however, everything I do is underscored by the same human-centered design approach which emphasizes understanding and empathizing with users and their needs. In addition to this experience from my design education, I am also an Interior Design teaching assistant for two classes. This has provided me with incredibly valuable experience in communicating helpful design feedback to students, which is applicable for working in any sort of team setting. Additionally, I am currently working on an architecture/housing project with my professor and area coordinator of Comprehensive Design where I produce renderings and other architectural visualizations.
