I review and interpret emerging technologies as related to IT security and client business models, and I author and present best practice, position and technology papers on various aspects of major compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, FedRAMP, HIPAA, CJIS, FISMA, ISO 27001, etc.) to private organizations and at conferences.

The unique advantage of working for a small company is the many different opportunities to contribute. At Zunesis I enjoyed working with clients to help map out IT strategies aimed at their current to medium term challenges. I also modeled in-house applications against like configurations in AWS, Azure, Google, and others to allow the creation of fact based cloud strategies. These efforts enabled me to craft solution designs and secure practices, and provide overall project definitions aimed directly at their business challenges. I was a member of a unique SWAT team concept at IBM helping very large U.S. and international customers lower costs and reduce risk through more effective e-discovery/legal holds, records retention, and identification of data with no remaining business value. As the storage & data consultant contributor to the team, I modeled all aspects of the client's storage infrastructure and data usage to enable the creation of data consumption and retirement models. This allowed defensible deletion of data, significant reduction in e-discovery risk, retirement of storage infrastructure, and the design and migration to a more effective, resilient and secure storage architecture.

As a member of the U.S. solution strategy team, I was able to team with clients to fully characterize their current state of IT from infrastructure to IT security to CIO business goals. This complete picture allowed me to define and recommend strategies aimed at solving immediate business and IT challenges while aligning with longer term goals. My areas of consideration included secure Cloud strategies, data protection and resiliency, virtualization, IT optimization, IT security architecture & policies, and others.

Western 13 States

As the Western Region Storage Presales Manager, I was responsible for building and maintaining a highly performing technical sales consulting team to support the HP storage sales team and HP clients. My territory was as large as the 17 western states and the team varied in size from 12 to 22 consultants. I was responsible for assuring that all consultants met both the HP/industry technical requirements and maintained a very current industry/competitive knowledge set (and was required to meet these goals myself). I teamed closely with my sales counterparts to assure a smooth and complete engagement with each client.
