During my undergraduate years at UCLA, I worked as a researcher at Montilab which is a laboratory that uses novel techniques with low intensity ultrasounds to modulate the brain. While I was there I was apart of a study which was investigating deep brain neuro-modulation with the goal of mapping pathways between the thalamus and the cortex. My work was unfortunately interrupted due to a pause on all non-essential research in March 2020, when Covid lockdowns became more widespread. Nonetheless, while my time there was cut short, I still was able to help conduct a human clinical trial and gain “in the trenches” research experience. Following my graduation from UCLA with a BS in physiological sciences, I went to Spain for a year to study a masters in cognitive neuroscience. Part of my program involved conducting original research which took the form of a masters thesis. My area of study specifically entailed investigating a potential mechanism for using simple and common physical stimuli as mechanisms for low level neuro-modulation. I finished this in September of 2021 and have since been working as a medical scribe in order to gain more experience in the medical field as a whole.
