I enjoyed my trimester as an Extension Student at UCSD. I met the inventor of the term "User Experience" Don Norman, listened to great visiting speakers at the Design Lab, and learned from many other local UX professionals.Classes taken:● Design for Development, with Brandon Reynante. This class focused on Human-Centered Design and Activist Design, with the majority of the time devoted to designing a solution for a real world client on a team with 8 other students. Our client was a nonprofit with multiple active projects in Nepal. We researched, prototyped, designed, and pitched a web app to find new donors and manage donor relationships.● Human Computer Interaction Design, with Scott Klemmer. This class focused on User Research and Prototyping, culminating in a final project on a team with two other students. We researched, prototypted, designed, developed, deployed, and pitched a mobile web app to socially swap homecooked meals anonymously. We called it MysteryMeet.

● Provided heuristic analyses and design critique of current and upcoming visual design projects● Participated in planning meetings for marketing, branding, and messaging campaigns for clients● Ran targeted campaigns to A/B test different outbound marketing strategies.● Conducted competitive and comparative research on the client onboarding processes of agencies and design studios across the industry● Wrote custom CSS and JavaScript for our Semplice Wordpress site

● Worked on the Recess web app using Meteor (JavaScript, MongoDB), and Sass.● Built a system for asynchronous processing of multiple-dependency background tasks, used for customer charging through Stripe, sending user notifications, and other tasks.● Built an admin interface allowing companies to set up customizable reimbursement for employees, and allowing facility managers to post and customize their own events.● Migrated the site to new hosting, upgraded the project from an old Meteor version, integrated with the Facebook API, and used Cordova to compile the app for iOS.● Remotely collaborated with another developer, pair programming on many features.

● Built websites and web apps for auto manufacturers' franchises and individual dealers using Apache Velocity, Sass, and JavaScript. Changes often affected 100s of sites.● Started a project to establish department-wide JavaScript linting conventions in collaboration with tech leads.● Worked with a mentor group exploring various UX topics such as Heuristic Evaluations and Personas. Applied our learning to begin a redesign of an important internal tool.● During the bi-annual hackathon created a frontend to display a competitive AI scripting game in real time.

● Founded and organized the Burlington, Vermont chapter of the global Meteor Meetup network.● Organized events including teaching sessions, group projects, lightning talks, and hackathons.● Planned content with other chapter leaders from around the world.● Started a Slack team for for organizers and handed it off to the Community team at Meteor Development Group, increasing global collaboration leading up to the 2015 global Meteor hackathon.

● Developed websites using HTML (Jade), CSS (Stylus), JavaScript (CoffeeScript), Node.js, and MongoDB.● Worked on several projects alone as well as on teams.● Projects ranged from site updates and modular widgets to web applications.● Employed industry-standard tools and libraries, such as Git + Github, jQuery, Handlebars.js, and build systems like Grunt.● Employed Trello for task management and coordination throughout the team.

● Assisted in the deployment and maintenance of a rural wireless wide-area network (WWAN) using Ubiquity Networks and Trango Systems radios on the unlicensed spectrum.● Deployed radios to roofs, trees, and towers; surveyed possible installation sites; maintained inventory; installed and configured radio equipment firmware.● Gap in employment September 2012 - January 2013 due to traveling abroad.

● Mapped out the company's various processes using flowcharting software (Microsoft Visio; Lucidchart).● Improved operational efficiency by providing a visual overview and guide for operations and procedures.● Maintained the company's bug tracking database, (JetBrains YouTrack), including task creation, organization, and delegation.● Assisted with software QA, data management, and technical support.

● Recycled, repaired, and troubleshot computers and other electronics, including hundreds of used PC's of many varieties.● Managed online resale and shipping through eBay, including product research and customer interaction.● Provided Spanish-English translation for employees.● Acted as sole Spanish-speaking company ambassador to company's Fronteras, Mexico branch during two-week trip in April 2011.● Gap in employment during September - December 2010 due to studying abroad in Pamplona, Spain.
