Realizing that people prefer to buy from their friends, he emphasizes a down-home, personal approach in his business development endeavors. As the company continues to grow, he remains accessible, similar to the “guy next door.” Tangram has several divisions: Tangram Studio offers customized furniture design; Tangram Fabricators provides customized flooring solutions; and Tangram On-Site provides full service furniture refurbishing which includes reupholstering, furniture refinishing and metal painting. In addition, the company also provides asset management, warehousing, and furniture inventory. Mitchel’s background in the interior products business began in 1985 when he and his father, Hugo, co-founded On-Site Fabricare specializing in the refurbishment of commercial office furnishings. In 1995, a designer brought him a sketch on a napkin and asked him if he could create it. After a bit of folding, tweaking and further efforts, Mitchel brought in the resources needed to create Tangram Studio.
