Mitchel Shapiro is the founder & CEO of Help America Hear Inc., a 501c3 not for profit organization established in 2004 as well as a Motivational Speaker & Stand-Up Comic. When Mitch was diagnosed with Usher Syndrome (deaf-blindness), he could have just declared his life over and let others take care of him. The prognosis was as the disease progressed Mitch would be completely deaf and blind but he refused to accept this. Instead, Mitch re-invented himself, worked harder, grasped the tools that would help in navigating his life and found ways to overcome the obstacles, taking his greatest weakness and turning into his strengths.Mitch spent 25 years of his life working in the family restaurant catering business at the same time developing a majestic landscape at one of them. After leaving this business he volunteered for 9 years for a national eye research organization where he helped raise over a million dollars for medical research and development before starting his own charity. Although Mitch promotes studying the causes of hearing and vision loss, he believes in helping the community through a more hands-on approach. Due to this vision, he developed Foundation for Sight & Sound, which in 2019 became Help America Hear. Mitch has been in the not for profit arena since 1996 and to date has not received any personal financial gain for his charity work. Help America Hear provides hearing aids nationally to low income individuals, in addition to a Scholarship for high school seniors with hearing loss going to college. My business goals include leaving a legacy for Help America Hear, establishing financial stability and continued growth for the charity, bringing like minded people together, for the purpose of advancement of the fundraising endeavors & mission. I feel it’s important to give honest information, making sure the donors money is put towards it's intended purpose while maximizing each dollar to the best of our abilities. It’s important to build relationships on trust, honesty and integrity. As a motivational speaker, Mitch shares a thought provoking story through an interactive presentation, motivating others to move forward. His interactive program helps audience participants to develop sensitivity to others by recreating experiences of his world of limited sight and sound, leading on to explorations of health, teamwork, understanding the needs of customers and building relations and overcoming procrastination. Mitch believes that we must follow our dreams, challenge ourselves to do it all and be the best we can be.
