When I became a mother, I realized that one of the first things to take a back seat was my own learning & development - the juggle was real. I was wearing a lot of hats - CEO, mother, wife, community member, friend, etc. How was I ALSO going to make time for my own growth & development? After seeing an ad for an online summit, I signed up. I gave up my Netflix binge in lieu of learning & within days I had a refreshed sense of energy, purpose & a few new strategies to use with clients. It was EXACTLY why I’d attended conferences in the pastI then set a great expectation for myself: to have a powerful & positive impact on the world by helping women be more confident, competent, valued, & respected in the world of business, community & family. The irony: I worked primarily with men.I saw first-hand the misperceptions & unconscious bias that held women back & held leaders back from promoting them. As I learned more about the link between women in leadership & improved business performance, I knew I needed to be part of the solution.Women like me (ambitious, high-achieving, professional women & female leaders) needed a way to learn & grow without taking significant time away from all else that they do. So, WiRL was built as an online conference for women who don't have time for conferences (but still want to learn)Today, it’s grown to be a robust professional development series for mid-level rising star women & the leaders who will eventually promote them. I curate the brightest thought leaders, blending online learning with group facilitation, to bring insights to action.A defining moment is when the CFO of one of my client groups defined WiRL & my overall systemic approach to programming as, "I see. I get it. You are loosening the ceiling while simultaneously raising the floor." Exactly.
