For the last 5 years, I’ve worked with small & medium-sized companies to navigate the Remote Work Revolution.But when I dropped out of college in 2014 I had no idea what “remote work” was, I just knew the 9 to 5 was undergoing a massive shift.After school, faced with the reality of working the rest of my life from an office, I decided there had to be another way...In 2015, I stumbled across the term “digital nomad” for the first time.Digital nomads are the pioneers of the remote work movement! They travel around the world only with what they can carry on their back all while earning money from their laptop, from any point in the world. With a lifestyle like that, mastering remote work operations is a must.I was hooked!My first experience working remotely was as the 1st hire for a fast-growing Amazon startup where I got a taste of everything, from content & SEO to growth marketing & project management. A year after joining, that startup had a 7-figure exit and I took my newfound skills to the agency world. I freelanced for several digital agencies before finding a great fit at Apsos Media in 2017 as a Project Manager.As the agency grew I saw the need for improved operations and spearheaded our adoption of async methodologies building out a deep vault of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and wikis.In addition, I helped the company update our communication & tech stack in order to reduce the reliance on time-zone overlap, productize our services, and improve efficiency.By the time I left Apsos Media in 2021, we had over a dozen team members spread out across 11 time zones.During that time I lived as a digital nomad full time with my now wife working from places like Thailand, Bulgaria, Spain, and MexicoIn 2019 I launched my podcast That Remote Life as a way to better understand the future of work and business and how the Remote Revolution would change life and the global economy. That Remote Life is now in the top 2% of podcasts globally and we've published 160+ interviews with some of the biggest experts in the industry.I believe the COVID-19 pandemic only sped up the inevitable - the mass adoption of remote work and async methodologies across all industries.
