– Developed complete Structural and Behavioral description of a Wheeled Mobile Robot(Clearpath Robotics Turtlebot) using MagicDraw SysML.– SysML diagrams developed included Behavioral (Use Case, Activity, and Sequence) and Structural (Package, Block Definition, Internal Block Definition, Parametric) as well as Requirements analysis.– Provided implementation of a waypoint navigation algorithm on the Turtlebot to give a point-to-point navigation functionality. The code was written in C++ and implemented using the ROS framework on Linux.– Did Simulink modeling to provide simulation of the Turtlebot kinematics in Matlab.– Simulated path planning, following and obstacle avoidance for Clearpath Turtlebot in Gazebo (a multi-robot simulator for outdoor environments).

Simulation Based System Design Lab, Umcp

– Programming in C++ and ROS (Robot Operating System) to provide implementation of algorithms in the Unmanned Ground Vehicle project. The robot used was the Clearpath Robotics Husky A200.– Wrote code in C++ to have the robot with onboard GPS unit track and follow a human (also having a GPS), while maintaining a distance of 3 meters at all times.– Used OpenCV, a computer vision library, to perform image processing for an object. This was used for object detection using an onboard camera.– Wrote code in C++ to limit the defaultly large range of LIDAR sensor, so that it could be used for obstacle detection by the Husky A200 robot.– Worked with the creation of a graphical artificial terrain for simulating the motion of the robot, which on computer was controlled via a joystick.– Performed extensive system testing in outdoor environments to verify and validate the performance of the coded algorithms on the robot.– Performed troubleshooting and debugging through the Linux command line and ROS interface.– Participated in giving demos of the robot to NSF and other governmental agency stakeholders.

– Reviewed current formation control approaches using algebraic graph theory, shape region control, etc.– Worked on the development of kinematics of a generalized differential drive wheeled mobile robot (WMR).– Converted algorithms for leader-leader(l-l), leader-follower (l-a), and leader-leader-follower (l-l-a) control schemes intoMatlab scripts in order to simulate and represent behavior of robots in formation.– Worked on the application of the biological action selection mechanism to the decision-making problem in robotics.Summary: The neurophysiological characteristics of the basal ganglia were described and its functional role as a mechanism for action selection established. A computational model of the basal ganglia is then developed and embedded into a robots architectural framework to demonstrate a model action selection task based on ethological behaviours.> Analyzed the mathematical models of basal ganglia components (Subthalamic Nucleus and the Striatum as the input nuclei, the globus pallidus (internal) and substantia nigra pars reticulata as the two output nuclei and the globus pallidus (external) and the substantia nigra pars compacta as the intermediate component structures).> Analyzed the sensory and motor systems as well as the control architectures of the Khepera I differential drive mobile robot.
