Research AssistantRensselaer Polytechnic Institute May 2010 - May 2015Troy, Ny, UsUsing high resolution MRI scans to segment out parts of the knee and create a parametric 3 D model to be utilized for finite element modeling.• Developed and implemented protocols to extract physiologically relevant anatomical features from MRI and CT scans using Analyze• Converted segmented images to form a CAD model, to be implemented for finite element analysis.• Refined CAD model for smooth meshing and reducing singularities during the FEM implementation. -
Graduate Research MentorRensselaer Polytechnic Institute Aug 2010 - Jul 2014Troy, Ny, Us• Mentored an undergraduate student: Taught the basic principles of image segmentation especially for MRI images of the knee. Helped develop CAD models using MRI data.• Summer @ Rensselaer (For high school students) : Taught the theory and implementation of finite element methods in COMSOL. Helped the students understand the advantages of computational modeling through a sensitvity analysis run for intervertebral disc.• National Science Olympiad, Susan Odell Taylor School, Troy, NY: Participated in a one day science olympiad helping kids get excited about science through a series of fun experiments. -
Research AssistantRensselaer Polytechnic Institute Aug 2011 - Aug 2012Troy, Ny, UsNumerical modeling of the endovascular system• Utilized a numerical model to determine the biomechanical factors important in stent design.• Results showed that stent placement along with geometry played a crucial role in the local stress and arterial blood flow developed in the region.• The altered blood flow patterns developed low wall shear stress ultimately risking restenosis.• The study showed that by optimizing the impedance mismatch and placement of a drug eluding stent could reduce restenosis. -
