Application Specialist for Materials Testing and Microscopy

Aug 2024 - Present

Research Scientist

Prague, Czechia

At the department of Polymer processing, we develop filaments for 3D printing and test them on our printer. I enjoy finding, implementing, evaluating, and refining the parameters to achieve the best properties of the final part. My other job is to keep the thermal analysis lab running smoothly. My routine starts with discussion with fellow scientists, who require Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements. With each assignment, there is always a new opportunity to broaden my horizons, which I welcome with pleasure. We plan the experiments, define the conditions, and outline what outcome to expect. After the measurements I evaluate the data and discuss the results with the scientists who requested the analysis. I find it very satisfying to deliver results on time and to a high quality. Taking care of the lab also includes maintaining a stock of laboratory consumables, operating the DSC instruments daily, calibrating them regularly, and ordering service annually. In case of malfunction, I am more than happy to consult with the authorized service department and figure out how to fix any problem.I enjoy working on diverse tasks that have a common goal. I love defining problems and finding solutions.

R&D Materials Engineer

Prague, Czechia

I prefer open communication; I see great sense in connecting people. At the CTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering I handled public relations of the project Centre for Diagnostics and Application of Materials. It was a great opportunity to combine creative, organizational and time management skills. I planned meetings and the center opening gala. I participated in the administration and financial management of the project Development of materials for biomedical applications. I prepared state-of-the-art analyses, consulted the technological procedures, and evaluated the prepared samples. I interpreted data and enjoyed presenting them at scientific conferences. As an assistant professor I gave lectures in English to Erasmus exchange students in Materials Science. I also conducted laboratory exercises in mechanical testing of engineering materials. It was exciting to stand on the other side of the teaching table. There I found my joy in interacting with the audience.
