About Michelle Chan

As a current PhD candidate, I am investigating the mechanism of GLP-1 and GIP mimetics to explain differences in therapeutic efficacy in type 2 diabetic patients. As an undergraduate at UC San Diego, I conducted research in labs at the Salk Institute, Scripps Research Institute, and UC San Diego School of Medicine. Before matriculating into graduate school, I worked full time at the Gladstone Institutes to investigate the molecular mechanisms of ALS and Alzheimer’s Disease in patient iPSC-derived neurons. From my previous research experiences, I've gained a strong understanding of cell biology, pharmacology, neurobiology, assay development, microscopy, and data analysis.
