President and CEO of Coventor which he founded in 1996, initially licensing and successfully commercializing MEMS modeling software from MIT. Coventor identified a “Blue Ocean” opportunity in semiconductor process integration and used its 3D modeling expertise to develop a virtual fabrication platform that changed the way advanced semiconductor processes are being developed. Used by the top semiconductor companies, Coventor and Lam Research jointly saw strategic value in combining the two companies to offer its joint customers faster time to process solutions. This 2017 merger was a fantastic outcome for the technology, team and investors.

2003 - Board Member After the tech bubble burst in early 2000's, Coventor spun-out its microfluidics IP and formed Cytonome led by co-founder John Gilbert. Cytonome focused on developing a cell-sorting machine for cancer therapy. The Giga-sort targeted sorting a billion cells an hour with multiple markers via 144 parallel microfluidic channels, and with a sterile disposable cartridge. I was a board member and investor in the company. Cytonome eventually merged into what is now ST-Cytonome.

1985 –1994 Co-founded Integrated Silicon Systems, Inc. (ISS), Research Triangle Park, NC1988-1994 – VP Marketing and Business Development – Helped raise venture capital as ISS pivoted toward IC CAD software product company. ISS developed and introduced VeriCheck, the first hierarchical physical verification CAD software to verify the most complex integrated circuits. Managed BD effort which led to major market penetrations at Motorola, Intel, DEC and IBM. High growth rate and 30+% net income, led to ISS public offering in February 1994. Sold for $283M in 1996, and now part of Synopsys.1985-1987 – VP ASIC Engineering – Developed business concept and co-wrote business plan.Established and led a design service business, acting as an authorized Design Center for Motorola and LSI Logic. ASIC business was profitable and paid for exploratory CAD software development.
