Led Global External Engagement gaining leadership for Abbott experts in key strategic organizations. Elected President of ISDI, the Global Trade Association that represented the special dietary food industry and was a member of the UN Committee on Food Security through the Private Sector Mechanism. My primary external stakeholders included Codex; WHO; FAO; and the UN Committee on Food Security. Key member of the Senior Leadership team in Abbott Nutrition (t/o US$ 7.0 billion) with responsibility for Global Regulatory Policy and Intelligence. Responsible for AN reputation in NGO reports and related company rankings. Achieved 3rd place in Global Ranking of Abbott Nutrition moving from its previous 5th place in the Access to Nutrition Index (ATNI) in 2018. Developed a Brexit Mitigation Strategy for Abbott’s Irish manufacturing operations to minimize adverse impact on Irish manufacturing and on the UK Nutrition market. Supported the development of a 15,000 cow green field dairy farm in China in 2014.

Irish Dairy Industries Association represents the dairy processing industry in Ireland. This export oriented industry has entered a period of substantial growth, as it prepares to emerge from the constraints of the European Milk Quota system. Growth predictions of 50% are accepted as a realistic target that can be achieved by 2020 and the industry is currently preparing for expansion in manufacturing capabilities, product innovation and new market development. The Irish Dairy Industries Association supports the industry development through policy development and guidance; the development of sustainable operations; trade policy; food legislation and consumer facing policy development. Achievements included the development of an on-farm Sustainability and Quality Assurance Scheme; a Masters programme in Dairy Science; a Resource efficiency programme and an industry level Innovation initiative.
