I am a PhD student in the Global Governance and Human Security program at the McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies and a National Science Foundation (NSF) fellow focused on questions of social justice, community resilience, and climate change in coastal communities. Common themes of my research interests include impacts of asymmetrical power dynamics; state-society relations under authoritarian regimes; environmental justice, militarization, inequality and occupation in places like the West Bank and Egypt; as well as contestation politics and forms of social mobilization during the Green Movement in Iran and the Arab Spring. As a research assistant, I've contributed to studies on riparian conflicts along the Nile River, human rights issues in extractive industries, and the water-energy-resource nexus. I also have over 5 years of experience as a teaching fellow for undergraduate courses in international relations and US foreign policy.
