I am currently studying how alterations to RNA processing impact the innate immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis in an in vivo model.

Research Rotation with the Jim Samuel Lab in the College of Medicine, Department of Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology. Partnered with the pharmaceutical company; iBio, to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. Responsibilities included; team-management and performing and assisting with laboratory assays (ELISA, ELISpot, Flow Cytometry).

I worked in the Dr. Carolyn Cannon lab within the TAMHSC department of Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology where I led a small research team to develop next-gen sutures that maintain the sterility of surgical sites, reduce inflammation, and absorb into the skin, all without compromising strength. Other roles, responsibilities, and projects included; animal studies, pathogen-pathogen interactions, drug-elution studies, electrospinning, coaxial electrospinning, protocol design, team and schedule management, and drug efficacy studies.

Serve as a liason between all undergraduates and research positions around the University, spreading the wealth of knowledge.

Under the guidance of a postdoctoral researcher in the Herman Lab, I assisted in developing Spore Phage Amplification Detection (SPADe) systems to detect subterranean chemical threats to fulfill a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract. Using synthetic microbiology techniques including promoter evaluation and plasmid design, we were able to design SPADe systems to accomplish our goal.

I am working towards my PhD in Immunology as a Graduate Research Assistant where I study how the mitochondria influences the innate immune response to viral pathogens.

I designed programs, awards, and reports for the Texas A&M University UGR: LAUNCH Office.

I worked on a Department of Justice study to develop methods to identify bruises associated with domestic by using various wavelengths of light.

Served as a front desk attendant while also keeping the museum clean and orderly, answering questions about the local areas in person, on the computer, and on the phone, as well as assist with travel information and reservations.
