Following the sale of Lonely Planet from BBC Worldwide to private ownership, relocated to a new Nashville office. Reporting directly to the CTO/CIO, responsible for Lonely Planet’s critical application environment and leading global technology teams across Melbourne, London and establishing a new US-based technology team covering software development, (front and back end, primarily Ruby on Rails), web operations, mobile developers (iOS and Android), QA and project managers.Transformed previously isolated technology teams in Australia and UK into a collaborative team with interrelated projects and shared goals with responsibility for lonelyplanet.com and Lonely Planet’s content management and editorial systems. Lead of the Online DevOps team dedicated to the delivery of lonelyplanet.com, managing the ongoing recruitment and succession planning needs of the team.Responsible for the management of the Online IT budget and the relationships with our technology partners including CDN, website hosting and external development. Achieved significant cost savings through new contract negotiation and changes to products and services.

One of eight employees relocated from Melbourne to London to restart the Lonely Planet Online team within BBC Worldwide.Part of the small team successful in delivering the IT transfer and setup in London within 100 days. Following, I was responsible for the ongoing delivery of IT services to the wider Online business. I also took over responsibility for a number of technology contracts and management of the Online IT budget.From London, led recruitment of Software Engineers in Ruby, Java and UI to form part of small DevOps team. I drove significant process change within the DevOps team aimed at delivering better product more quickly through continuous deployment and a better understanding of customer behaviour through real time user metrics and application monitoring. I have also continued the drive for website performance, a key requirement in all new projects.

In addition to existing Service Delivery responsibilities, designed and implemented new Change Management processes and procedures to facilitate organisational and technical advances including the DevOps movement, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
