I really enjoy my work here at Eppstein Uhen Architects as I get to work with great colleagues, clients and consultants. The complex and variety of projects provide me a desired challenge which allows my experience to grow, my skills to be sharpened and reward me with satisfaction. Some of my daily tasks include:• Coordination of documents (meeting minutes, drawings, specifications, spreadsheets, etc.) from programming through construction completion with all parties involved.• Attending meeting with clients, consultants and contractors• Code research and working with local jurisdictions that have authority to address their needs and acquire their approval• All aspects of construction administration such as site visits, field reports, submittals, requests for information and construction bulletins

This position was a great learning opportunity in that I experienced the construction process from the client’s perspective of architecture. This job is gave me a new insight into the construction process and I feel that I have grown as an architect because of this experience. The following describes my contributions as Facility Designer:• I worked as the tenant's representative to coordinate and manage various laboratory back fill projects on the UW Madison Campus and at the UW Hospital.• The new spaces improved efficiency and proved a quality space for the users to work.• I represented the space users’ needs as I worked with colleagues and/or an architectural firm to develop construction documents.• As their representative, I would make sure the new space would meet the needs of the users, their equipment and their process.

• Managed primarily complex research and development / science and technology projects from the initial programming stage through completion of construction• Managed a variety of projects including interior remodels, additions and new facilities • Created science and technology spaces that celebrate team-based research, open labs and flexible modular equipment• Navigated and provided expertise with life safety code saving clients time and money during construction• Coordinated and designed projects to incorporate LEED design standards: 37,000 sq ft laboratory facility which was awarded LEED Certification 89,000 sq ft multi-tenant laboratory facility incorporated LEED design aspects.
