My role as the Director of Engineering is to define, develop and deliver a cohesive Engineering Strategy to support EMCOR UK’s vision of Engineering Excellence. Through the Engineering Centre of Excellence (CoE) the role brings together the Executive owners and key discipline leads across the strategic service streams to conceptualise, construct, execute and govern a progressive and integrative Engineering Strategy. The strategy directs the activities required to deliver continuous and effective professional engineering standards.

• Responsible for strategic manpower financial planning, out to 10 years, c£1.8bn per year. Includes the in-year management and reconciliation of forecast of outturns and variance management. Regular engagement with senior position holders (Executive Board level) to support strategic decision making.

• Senior Site Engineer and Facilities Manager for a MoD establishment in central London, including contractor safety Duty Holder and budget manager responsibilities. Management of a Hard FM contract including maintenance delivery, equipment repair and capability enhancements. Working in partnership with 50 works and assurance contractors to deliver a funded (c£10m per year), prioritised and validated obsolescence management programme.• On behalf of the Delivery Duty Holder, maintain full compliance with stringent site standards based on MoD and civilian requirements. Monitor contract performance, perform H2A and deliver continuous improvement activities to ensure maximum operational availability of installed equipment. • Included the specification setting, tendering, mobilisation and transition of a +£50m Hard FM contract renewal in Sep 17. The process included delivery of the tender questionnaire and leading the evaluation process, establishing a revised governance structure supported by contract specific SLA/KPIs.

• Award of an MBA from Cranfield University. Recipient of the Henry Ford II Scholar Award for the highest average academic score, The Cranfield Leadership Prize and finalist (runner-up) in the The Odgers Prize. • Responsibility for the size, shape and competency setting of ~2500 officers and ratings within the Marine Engineering General Service branch. This includes forecasting and setting recruitment, promotion and career extension targets, policy development and casework management.• Delivery of operational engineering support in the Middle East, maintaining warship operational availability and overseeing the first Operation Maintenance and Repair (OMAR) exercise in the Arabian Gulf for over 7 years. • As a Charge Marine Engineer onboard HM Warships, responsible to the Commanding Officer for the delivery of equipment availability, maintenance and repair in support of operational capability. • In support of the above, led and managed a team of 45 personnel, providing divisional/pastoral oversight, maintenance of discipline and morale, and training and professional development activities. • Delivery of the Royal Navy input to warship deep maintenance and repair and upgrade (dry dock) process, as Senior Naval Officer. Working alongside a major engineering support partner (Babcock Marine), building strong commercial relationships, plan, monitor and co-ordinate refit activities to meet major project milestones to ensure the ship emerged from upkeep on time, to specification and budget.• Delivery of engineering assurance for Portsmouth based warships (~20 vessels) on behalf of the local area commander. Providing Guidance, Leadership, Advice and Direction (GLAD) to engineering personnel and their Commanding Officer to support the delivery of Operational Capability.
