ORR is responsible for providing a safe environment for all minors in the Unaccompanied Children (UC) Program. As a Federal Volunteer member of the Emergency Intake Site (EIS) Significant Incident Reports (SIR) Team, responsibilities included creating a process for systematically collecting key information and clarifying facts about incidents that allow for efficient and effective management; identifying challenges and training opportunities for the oversight of SIRs at various Emergency Intake Sites to ensure the safety of the children.

In a short period of time, my efforts were recognized and I received an invitation to participate on the national process improvement team. I also managed the grievance reporting for children in the EIS, and served on the SD EIS Logistics Team for the demobilization of the facility.
