About Michael Neuwirth, Sustainability Communications Leader

I created my portfolio career of today following 30 years in corporate and agency roles delivering communications solutions for various companies, mostly in the food and beverage sector. Today my works is comprised of three areas of focus: communications consulting, angel investing, and real estate management. I have led and advised communications for businesses and nonprofits including the American Sustainable Business Council, Danone, B Lab (B Corp certification), Fund for Social Equity, and others, now serving clients as an independent consultant. Services including sustainability related communications, NFP development, stakeholder mapping, audits and assessment, communications planning, crisis and issues management, change management, and cohort building.I develop companies, brands & their markets through purpose-led stakeholder engagement, public relations, and corporate communications. I have an insatiable appetite to efficiently promote and protect brand and corporate reputations by harnessing the power of influencers, including journalists. I use storytelling to drive brand and category growth in emerging as well as established areas, and my experience includes doing so in the food & beverage industry and others. Verticals with expertise include the better-for-you food market, including probiotics, organic foods, and plant-based diets.I successfully navigate reputation challenges to business and categories under fire through mapping out key players and their interests, and then identifying safe ground for communications. And doing it with key partners by enlisting influencers to relay communications aligned with business and brand objectives. I thrive on orchestrating cross-functional collaboration for promotional and protective communications with stakeholders. Consulting with rapidly growing companies about the opportunities and challenges associated with fast growth is an area where I excel. As co-lead of the Executive Forum Angels we organize pitch days for our members and lead DD, investing and advising entrepreneurs.Real estate investment and management is an area of work I grew up seeing my father pursue while excelling as a full-time physician. As solar power continues to emerge as the most cost-effective, long-term solution for energy needs VesprSolar started with a blank sheet of paper and asked installers, racking companies, EPCs, developers, and photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers what they thought about the components used for PV module attachment. Most said they are not happy with their current attachment solutions. The nut-and-bolt process is slow, labor intensive, error-prone, and requires many small easy-to-drop parts. They wanted a better solution that was reliable, fast, simple, and low cost. So that’s what VesprSolar built: A family of attachment solutions that deliver these needs and can be adapted to fit virtually any system making PV installation faster, less costly, and more durable than conventional fasteners.
