In my research, DEM is employed to provide a multi-scale investigation on the three-dimensional behavior subjected to general stress paths. The Particle Flow Code in Three Dimensions (PFC3D) was utilized to carry out the numerical simulations. The coupled fluid method using a FISH scripting language has been utilized as a hybrid method to evaluate the behavior of non-spherical particles under shear stress. In addition, the effect of particle properties such as elongation, size and density – as inherent or induced characteristics – was evaluated under monotonic and cyclic loading. The results have led to three articles so far; one of which has already been published and the other two are being prepared.Additionally, my M.Sc. thesis was focused on the comparison of granular soil characteristics obtained from large and small scales tests. The determined effort was to try to solve one of the frequent issues regarding the strength-strain response of small scale tests due to the existence of several methods for the removal of oversized particles. During my bachelor studies, I was an active member of the “Concrete Team” at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Furthermore, I have collaborated with the student journal of the Civil Engineering department. Besides, I have worked as a teaching assistant in the soil mechanics laboratory and the asphalt laboratory for two years. This unique experience has given me the chance to familiarize myself with common testing laboratory apparatuses and their functions in soil mechanics.
