Matthew J Saunders is a musician and visual designer. His music has been synced by the BBC and Sky and he co-composed additional music for StudioCanal's feature length documentary 'Valentino: The Last Emperor'. His standout artist collaborations include songwriting with Kim Deal (The Pixies), Kelley Deal (The Breeders), Pete Kember (Sonic Boom, Spacemen 3), King Creosote and James Yorkston.He currently releases records and performs as Twilight Sequence. An album, 12” and 7” came out on Castles in Space Records and there’s a second LP due for release early 2025. As Twilight Sequence he has performed at a number of festivals collaborating with his wife Victoria Wilson (formerly of Avrocar) who reads extracts from Sir John Hammerton’s three volume nature encyclopaedia “Outline of Nature”. There are other releases available on the Twilight Sequence BandCamp page.He previously released albums and performed live as Assembled Minds, a project that combined Radiophonic experimentation, broken techno tape loops and eerie hauntological themes. It received BBC 6Music Radio plays, BBC Radio 3 plays, guest mixes for The Wire and Self-Titled magazines, and excellent reviews in The Wire, Electronic Sound and MixMag.In the 2000’s he was signed to 4AD Records as one half of Magnétophone where he released two albums and several EPs and singles. Magnétophone were lauded for their blissfully leftfield live shows, playing the length and breadth of the UK, New York and touring extensively in Europe. Pete Kember joined them as third member and manager for the two year duration of the second album's promotional period. Matthew also recorded two Peel Sessions and two Rob da Bank Sessions for BBC Radio 1, and other live sessions for BBC Radio 3 and XFM.
