As Chief System Architect and Software Designer for a Linux-based embedded solar energy monitoring system with a web interface, led an agile team of 7 programmers and testers that developed software and firmware supporting over 120,000 devices. Coded in Posix C with Busybox and cURL shell scripts, Git for source control, OpenSSL for security, JSON and XML data formats, the OpenEmbedded cross-compiling suite targeting ARM processors, and a cloud logging pipeline for diagnostics using HTTP/2, SQL and Python scripts.Identified a replacement EEPROM memory chip as the source of meter memory failures. Developed a firmware update and an Internet server that enabled meters to serve as clients to receive custom correction updates to patch corrupted files. Backported BCH ECC memory drivers from a newer kernel. Repurposed a meter to create a cryptographically secure signing server to provide secure Internet firmware updates via a public/private key pair scheme that enabled remote update authentication.Created a custom language in XML validated by XSD to add new serial devices.Worked at Emhart Glass to help create a patented glass forming machine controller. Applied matrix optimization to a network constraint diagram for collision avoidance and process control.Ported and developed software to integrate a commercial timeclock with biometric fingerprint readers. Developed an API for use by other Java developers, using JNI and C.Identified and corrected, on-site at Longhorn Glass, two intermittent failures within a network of bottle making machines and controllers. Developed tools to work with an ARCNET network analyzer.Worked with a team at Goodrich Aerospace (using DOORS and LDRA) to design review and code review and unit test a helicopter fuel control under EU (French) Aviation Authority. As the final code reviewer, caught a previously overlooked bug caused by an obscure feature of the C program language.

Programming and development work on various technology transfer projects for the University of Massachusetts. Primary responsibility was C++ programming related to the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval. Also worked with Java and JNI and CVS source control.
