I am a Registered Dietitian with extensive experience working in the public health sector utilizing the population health promotion approach to promote optimal growth and development of infants and children, youth, promoting healthy pregnancies and breastfeeding, and preventing illness and disease amongst adults into their senior years. I've worked extensively with community partners including agencies, groups, municipal partners and individuals in creating healthy social, physical and food environments, policies and programs and addressing inequities that may contribute to illness and disease. I assess the nutrition-related needs of individuals, groups and communities to set health and strategic goals, plan evidence-based programs and services to meet these needs and evaluate progress and outcomes. Through applied community-based research and evaluation skills, networking, coalition building, partnership and organizational skills, an ability to multi-task, and apply creative problem solving techniques, I've overcome many barriers and supported both individuals, groups and agencies in achieving their full potential and intended goals. Creating a more just, equitable community where everyone can thrive is at the root of how I apply my professional practice. Addressing food security, food systems via policy and community engagement have been a key focus of my work. Prior to my work in public health settings, I had significant experience working in acute care, managing food service operations, supporting home care and long term care residents and other health professionalls as part of a health care team. .
