As a graduate student earning my MS in Marine Science, I combined fieldwork and geospatial modeling to investigate blue carbon—the carbon captured and stored within the plant material and soils of coastal wetlands. My research focused on the Cape Fear River Estuary in Southeastern North Carolina, where I quantified carbon storage in these ecosystems and assessed its distribution. A key component of my work was analyzing how future sea level rise may impact these carbon reserves, providing valuable insights into the resilience and role of blue carbon ecosystems in mitigating climate change.

The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency."- US Dept. of Energy I am a member and officer of the Solar Cal Poly team competing in the DOE Solar Decathlon. Our mission is to build a home that meets both the residents' as well as society's need for ecologically responsive housing while simultaneously creating an environment that delights the resident both experientially and thermally. As a design project, the house has also provided an opportunity for students and faculty to explore, collaborate, and introduce innovative, appropriate technologies through a hands-on learning opportunity, serving as an outreach opportunity amongst students and faculty at Cal Poly, the surrounding community, and the renewable energy industry. The NRCS and USFS recently funded a collaborative project between Oregon State and Cal Poly aimed at improving soil mapping in the Pacific Northwest. The project utilizes multi-scale geomorphic classification systems to predict and update modes of soil mapping. I work with my professor and other team members to compile data from soil survey maps and identify significant geological and soil morphological features.

Kings Canyon National Park

The National Park Service recently received a grant funding the restoration and conservation of riparian wetland ecosystems within Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The project focuses on the removal of invasive species, reintroduction of native species, and land reclamation for wildlife.The main focus on the project is the removal of invasive Reed Canary Grass from two restorations sites in Grants Grove and Halstead Meadow. Both sites are highly valued wetland ecosystems and are currently being restored through the removal of various invasive species.While working with the National Park Service, I collaborated on the removal of invasive Reed Canary Grass from riparian wetland ecosystems and applied knowledge of taxonomy while cataloging plants and soil types in affected wetland areas. I was fortunate enough to work with many skilled professionals who taught me a lot about the restoration of these priceless meadows.

What started out as a way to earn some spending money in 7th grade, quickly grew into my primary job for 7 years. After searching for jobs on the internet and having 'Dog Walker' pop up on the first go, I developed a simple business plan, found a logo and lovingly named my company Woof Walkers. For the next seven years I provided dog walking and pet sitting services for clients, most of whom have stayed with me till the end. I continue to provide pet sitting and dog walking services during the holidays when I am home.

Belectric Inc. is a California start-up with a founding mission to deploy the most advanced and highest performing utility PV power plants in the industry, while leveraging the synergies withinvertical integration, technical leadership, standardization and enterprise-wide efficiencies.While at Belectric, I worked with the Construction, Finance, and Purchasing Teams to assist them in procurement planning, placement of PO’s, and analysis and comparison of vendor costs, quantities, and quality. My primary job was interfacing on the phone, and in person with a wide variety of suppliers from around the United States regarding various aspects of the procurement process and adherence to Belectric’s standards.

During my time as a Verde Youth Ambassador, I promoted youth and citizen awareness of recycling and water protection. My primary job was organizing a grant and campaign to educate the public on the importance of not only using CFL bulbs, but recycling them as well. Part of my outreach involved participating in community service events with city run organization structured for improving city living.

While working at the USGS, I assisted in continuous research projects focused on rare earth metals with particular focus on arsenic. My job included the organization, documentation and presentation of collected data during the research project and at conferences. I practiced methods of data collection using various scientific instruments including an XRF Spectrometer and centrifuge, and learned about conducting research at facilities including SLAC (Stanford Liner Accelerator).

Hidden Villa is a nonprofit educational organization that uses its organic farm, wilderness, and community to teach and provide opportunities to learn about the environment and social justice. As a Horticulture Intern, I learned about the process of organic farming and the intensive process farms have to go through to be recognized as organic. I worked with various local organizations such as Community Supported Agriculture to organize crop harvesting events for the local food bank as away to involve to community in farm operations.
